Frequently Asked Questions About Athletic Fields Forever

Q: Why should I contribute to the Capital Campaign when I already pay tax to support public schools?

A: The Oconomowoc Sports Booster Club is working with the School District to supplement capital improvements that tax dollars cannot provide. If our students are to continue to excel athletically, we must provide opportunities to meet the challenges of the 21st century and expand and improve our 57-year old fields.

Q:  How important is my participation?

A:  Your participation is fundamental to assuring a solid financial future for Oconomowoc athletics. A high percentage of giving will be those closest to the school – current parents, alumni, graduate parents, faculty and staff – but we are also reaching out to local businesses and community organizations to help us.  Participation encourages investment in our community and our students’ future.  Every donation, regardless of size, is both needed and appreciated.

Q: Why should I contribute to the Capital Campaign when I no longer have children in school?

A:  The current athletic field facilities were built in 1965 when there were five athletic teams. Today there are 14. Parents of graduates are invited to consider expressing gratitude for their children’s ability to participate in sports while attending Oconomowoc schools by making a gift to the AFF Campaign. Their support affirms that strong schools indicate a strong community.

Q: May I give a gift “in memory of” or “in honor of” a coach, a teacher, a fellow player, a team, a friend or a loved one?

A: Yes. The AFF Campaign presents an excellent opportunity to give a gift “in memory of” or “in honor of” someone. For example, parents and grandparents may give a gift in honor of their children or grandchildren. It also is an excellent time to leave a legacy gift (bequest) by considering a “naming” gift to assure the family name will continue in perpetuity.

Q: Who will be responsible for maintenance and upkeep of the new facilities?

A: Once built, the athletic fields and facilities will be owned and maintained by the Oconomowoc Area School District.
